Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, Phase II, ca. 350 to 500 CE. An attractive, hand-built pottery stirrup vessel of spherical form adorned with brick-red pigment atop a cream-hued ground. Sitting upon a slightly rounded, ring-form foot, the globular body displays a quartet of stylized, right-facing lizards with striped bodies, lengthy claws, narrow heads, and sinuous tails. A stirrup-shaped handle arches from atop the shoulder and is surmounted by a gently flared spout. Size: 6.25" W x 8.5" H (15.9 cm x 21.6 cm)
