Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mayan Territories, Late Classic, Ca. 600 to 900 AD. unique terracotta effigy for attachment, perhaps a lid or the headdress for a larger figure with loop hole between ears and piercings on the rim. There are pointed animal ears and the animated face has large wrinkled eyes, headdress lappets and a bib extended below chin, perhaps wearing a mask. A curious object extends from the mouth, either smoking a pipe or ingesting a substance. Remains of original yellow and red color. Size: 5" W x 7.5" H (12.7 cm x 19 cm); 8.375" H (21.3 cm) on included custom stand.
