Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Moche, Phase III, ca. 300 to 600 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery stirrup vessel depicting a dignified if not noble man kneeling with hands placed neatly atop his thighs. Wrist bangles, a tied cape, and a thick headwrap decorate the kneeling figure as red and orange pigments further accentuate the well-executed physiognomy. Size: 5.625" W x 8.625" H (14.3 cm x 21.9 cm)

  • Condition: Repair and restoration to spout and midsection of handle, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Minor abrasions and nicks, with chip to top of spout, and light fading to pigment in scattered areas. Great preservation to figural form.
