Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Oaxaca, Mixtec culture, Post-classic period, ca. 1100 to 1450 CE. A hand-carved stone idol with a flat base, a phalliform body, and a rounded top. Depicted on the front of the idol is the abstract face of a deity in relief with concentric circle eyes, arching brows which fuse together to form the nose, puffy lips, and two large triangular fangs. The top of the head is capped with an integral crown above an incised headband. Size: 4.125" W x 8.75" H (10.5 cm x 22.2 cm).
