Lucy Parker (Native American, Sierra Miwok, b. 1953) Acorn Gathering Basket, woven willow, ca. 20th to 21st century CE. A hand-woven and twined twig basket that was traditionally used for acorn gathering, made with a loose, open weave, by the artist Lucy Parker, a member of the Coast Miwok-Kashaya Pomo tribe, a 9th generation basket weaver, and the daughter of Julia Parker; both are remarkably talented basket weavers and teach the craft at Yosemite National Park. Lucy Parker’s works are in notable museum collections including the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, catalog number 26/2687. Size: 8.25" Diameter x 12" H (21 cm x 30.5 cm)
