Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Native American, Northeastern United States, New York / Canada, Ontario, Iroquois, ca. 1970s CE. A pair of male and female cornhusk dolls dressed in cotton, felt, and leather clothing with beading over their stiff cornhusk bodies. Traditional cornhusk dolls used and played with by Iroquois children often do not have facial features to prevent children from becoming overly vain. This pair was probably crafted for sale, due to the drawn-on faces and ceremonial clothing that non-native collectors were often partial to. Size: 11" L x 4" W (27.9 cm x 10.2 cm)

Provenance: private Alamo, California, USA collection, before 2000

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
