Description:

North America, United States, ca. mid-19th century CE. A nice leather bag with a deep interior cavity and a top flap with a brass buckle and fragmentary buckle strap. The elongated back panel is attached to part of a horse saddle, so it would not encumber the rider. A bag like this was perhaps used as a civilian ammunition box or as a courier's bag. Size (bag): 8.875" W x 4.875" H (22.5 cm x 12.4 cm); (w/ back flap): 17.125" H (43.5 cm)
