Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan, ca. 550 to 100 BCE. A hand-built pottery female figurine known as a "pretty lady" with flat, delineated legs, a plump abdomen, attenuated arms, and voluptuous breasts. Circular ears, coffee-bean-shaped eyes, and a prominent nose comprise her stylized visage, and striated locks of hair hang down and curve back up into her mouth. Her head is capped with a simple rectangular head band, and a thick necklace is draped across her chest. Size: 1.875" W x 3.75" H (4.8 cm x 9.5 cm).

Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
