Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan, Protoclassic period, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A fine, hand-built pottery "pretty lady" figure standing on delineated legs and diminutive feet. Her portly abdomen and ample breasts are indicative of pregnancy, and her bulbous arms are dwarfed by the size of her discoid earspools. Incised diamond eyes, a perky nose, full lips, and dramatically-contoured cheeks comprise her feminine visage, and a horizontally-striated, centrally-parted coiffure caps her angular pate. Custom wooden display stand included. Size: 2.625" W x 4.625" H (6.7 cm x 11.7 cm); 5.75" H (14.6 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
