Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan, Protoclassic Period, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A hand-built pottery 'pretty lady' figure with a pale-orange surface. She stands upon delineated legs, has a portly abdomen, perky breasts, and attenuated arms. Her wide face features impressed diamond-shaped eyes, a bulbous crested nose, full lips, large discoid ear spools with impressed 'X' motifs, and a neatly-incised, centrally-parted coiffure which drapes down her back. Size: 2.125" W x 4.5" H (5.4 cm x 11.4 cm); 4.625" H (11.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Minor nicks to body, limbs, and head, with softening to some finer details, and light encrustations within some recessed areas. Light earthen deposits and manganese blooms throughout.
