Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan, Protoclassic Period, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A hand-built pottery 'pretty lady' figure standing nude atop delineated legs. Her flat form is emphasized by her globular breasts and necklace-adorned clavicle, and her diamond-shaped eyes are surrounded by discoid earspools and an incised coiffure. Size: 2.3" W x 5.2" H (5.8 cm x 13.2 cm); 5.875" H (14.9 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private West Hollywood, California, USA collection; ex-Lin Emery (1926-2021) collection, New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, acquired prior to 2000

  • Condition: Repaired from several pieces with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Chips to head and nose, with nicks and abrasions commensurate with age, and light softening to some incised details. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
