**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Protoclassic period, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A hand-built pottery "pretty lady" figure with a highly-burnished surface and faint red-orange pigmentation. She stands upon delineated legs, has a portly abdomen, ample breasts, attenuated arms, and an incised necklace. Impressed diamond-shaped eyes, a prominent nose, and a gaping mouth constitute her minimalist visage, with a pair of enormous ear spools flanking either side of a neatly-arranged coiffure, and a simple incised headband topping the head. Custom wooden display stand included. Size: 2" W x 3.875" H (5.1 cm x 9.8 cm); 5" H (12.7 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
