Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 BCE to 300 CE; West Mexico, Michoacan, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A pair of hand-built pottery figures- a male figure made by a Michoacan artist, and a Chupicuaro "pretty lady" figure. They are both presented nude with wide, oversized heads with applied and incised details. Although nude, they are ornamented with headbands, earspools, and necklaces. Size of man: 3.75" L x 2" W (9.5 cm x 5.1 cm); 3.75" H (9.5 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-private S. and V. Friedman collection, New York City, New York, USA, acquired in the 1960s
