Pre-Columbian, Guerrero Mexico, Mezcala, ca. 300 BCE. A beautiful collection of creamy white and brown shell seed beads with a central hanging shell pendant in the form of a head. The head has classic carved Mezcala features and wears a large headdress above its large, heavy-lidded eyes. Two longer shell beads hang on either side of it. The beads may be Central American rather than Mezcala. Modern stringing, ready to wear! Length of strand: 26" L (66 cm); size of pendant: 1.25" W x 1.65" H (3.2 cm x 4.2 cm)
