Latin America, Mexico, ca. 1853 CE. A large, hammered copper basin engraved with the date and the surrounding Spanish legend "Sirvoal Sr. Dn. Francisco Jose Movellan" ("I serve Senor Don Francisco Jose Movellan"). The rest of the interior rim and tondo are decorated with a butterfly and a flowering urn and bird and vine motifs. Size: 15.5" Diameter x 4.5" H (39.4 cm x 11.4 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
