Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, ca. late 3rd to early 2nd millennium BCE. A hand-carved stone stamp of a rectangular form with serrated edges and a smooth top surmounted by a perforated handle. The stamp face depicts an abstract, menacing creature with clawed feet, a reptilian head with a gaping maw, and a sinuous tail that curls to form a circle. Size: 2" L x 1.8" W (5.1 cm x 4.6 cm)
