Description:

Ancient Near East, Mesopotamian or Elamite, ca. late 3rd millennium CE. A striking bronze mace head boasting 3 decorative relief panels of herringbone motif and enveloped in a breathtaking patina in hues of aquamarine and turquoise. Used both as a weapon and as a display of wealth and power due to its ornamental design, the mace head presents a narrow, flanged base with a drill hole for attachment and a long, tubular shaft with a smooth lower section and relief panels on the upper. The vertical panels are divided and bordered by parallel ridges, while a similar grooved band encircles the base. A beautiful example fit to conquer any beast! Size: 7.7" L x 1.2" Diameter (19.6 cm x 3 cm)
