Ancient Mesopotamia, Neo-Babylonian, Iraq, ca. 700 BCE. Finely carved black stone stamp seal in rectangular form. Each side with similar depiction of standing quadruped - horse or zebra possibly. On one side the animal has one foreleg raised as if prancing, the other side shows the animal with extended rear legs as if sitting. Each side has slightly different glyphic elements possibly a representation of two individuals or families. Clay impressing of each side accompanies. Drilled vertically for suspension. A fine and rare example! Size: .95" W x .625" H (2.4 cm x 1.6 cm)
