Near East, Byzantine Period, ca. 13th century CE. A set of 4 wheel-thrown pottery bowls with attractive decorations. One bowl is incised within the basin, while another bowl has both incised and glazed adornments, and the remaining 2 bowls feature solely colorful glazing. Size of largest: 10.5" W x 3" H (26.7 cm x 7.6 cm)

  • Condition: Three of the 4 bowls exhibit sea encrustations; the fourth does not. Each bowl has light abrasions and chips, with softening to incised decorations, and fading to glaze pigment, otherwise intact and very good. Great preservation to overall forms, and some incised and glazed areas are still visible.
