**Originally Listed At $500**

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Mayan Territories, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A beautiful figural pendant, skillfully carved from a mottled pistachio-green stone with dark inclusions. The figure is portrayed with crossed legs representative of being seated, with rolled shoulders and both arms held to slender hips. A roughly-triangular head is comprised of drilled eyes, nostrils, and corners of the mouth, and a simple cap covering the broad forehead. The facial contours and delineations between arms, legs, and torso are formed using the meticulous string-cutting technique. The neck is biconically-drilled for suspension. A fantastic pendant replete with expert artistry and striking color! Size: 2.1" H (5.3 cm).
