Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Bahia, Guangala, ca. 500 BCE to 500 CE. A hand-built greyware ocarina depicting a zoomorphic form with sound holes perforating its arched 'back' and large round applied eyes looking out from its face. Adding to its undeniable appeal is the incised decorative program adorning its body. An overall burnished surface with an integral loop handle for suspension. Endearing and musical as well. Size: 5.125" L x 2.375" H (13 cm x 6 cm); 3.125" H (7.9 cm) on included custom stand.
