Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Honduras, Ulua Valley, Maya, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A hand-built pottery vessel of cylindrical form resting atop a trio of squat ovoid feet. The highly burnished surfaces are adorned with abstract squid-like forms with large, drooping tentacles that are interspersed with circular panels, perhaps depicting temples surrounding the sun. The upper rim is adorned with abstrac tlinear and spiraling motifs that seem to interlock with one another. Size: 6.78" Diameter x 5" H (17.2 cm x 12.7 cm)
