Pre-Columbia, Maya Territories, probably Guatemala, ca. 550 to 900 CE. Large and wonderfully decorated seated goddess. She sits with hands upon her knees, with heavily scarified shoulders wearing large headdress, earspools with central applique, necklace of 5 large discs, belt around her waist and highlighted with liberal pigments in shades of Mayan blue, white, black and red. Very rare and striking! Size: 8.25" H (21 cm)
