Description:

Pre-Columbian, Gulf Coast Mexico, Veracruz, ca. 500 to 900 CE. A sizeable hollow-form terracotta bust of a warrior with a prominent nose, full lips, large ears with disc-shaped earspools, slit eyes, and an enormous forehead. The head likely boasted an ornate headdress at one time, but is now missing. The verso is unadorned, and a large central perforation was utilized during the firing process. A wonderful and expressive example! Custom wooden stand included. Size: 5.375" H (13.7 cm); 7" H (17.8 cm) on included custom stand.
