Pre-Columbian, Classic Maya Culture, Mexico, ca. 600 to 800 CE. This is a beautiful orange cylinder jar with a ring of glyphs around its upper exterior, and an incised and sculpted linear design on its lower exterior. This is a fine, classic example of Maya pottery artwork. Residue analysis on the interiors of similar cylinder jars have found that they were used for ritual imbibing of hot cocoa mixed with spices. Size: 7" W x 8" H (17.8 cm x 20.3 cm).
