Pre-Columbian, El Salvador, Maya, Copador type, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A hand-built pottery bowl of spherical form with a deep basin surrounded by a thin rim. Highly burnished and decorated with red, black, and light orange pigment, the bowl features solid red stripes along the rim and base as well as a pair of abstract, left-facing monkeys with extended arms along the exterior walls. Size: 5.75" Diameter x 3.4" H (14.6 cm x 8.6 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010
