Pre-Columbian, Central America, El Salvador, Maya, Copador type, Late Classic Period, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A broad pottery bowl with corseted walls and colorful decorations! Around the inner basin is a register of abstract, left-facing heads, each wearing large ear ornaments and a feathered headdress, and within the center is a circular, four-panel decoration in red pigment. The exterior features 3 seated human figures - representations of Maya Scribes, each with a single canine companion seated in front of them, curiously inspecting what is held in the human's outstretched hand. Size: 6.25" W x 2.375" H (15.9 cm x 6 cm)
