Description:

Ancient Seas, Morocco, Devonian Period, ca. 419.2 to 358.9 million years ago. This is a superb and massive stone matrix containing fossilized shells from prehistoric ammonites and Orthoceras. The four ammonites display the iconic spiraling shell with fine suture patterns which have formed in caramel brown, black, and white hues. The central spiral is slightly recessed and then widens outward to the large chamber opening. The two large Orthoceras fossils exhibit an elongated and pointed shell which once encased the cephalopod's soft bodies. The fossils are exposed and given a high polish to better view the creatures from their surrounding matrix. This would be an amazing architectural or decorative piece! Size: 22" L x 3.5" W x 25" H (55.9 cm x 8.9 cm x 63.5 cm)
