Description:

Ancient Seas, Eastern Europe, probably Russia, Ordovician Period, ca. 485.4 to 443.8 million years ago. A charming group of four fossilized trilobites captured on a stone matrix from where they once patrolled the ocean floor! These are all from the genus Asaphus (Neoasaphus) kowalewskii, notable for the lengthy stalked eyes known as peduncles. The largest trilobite shows off the full length of the segmented body, and two have humped backs, as if they are about to roll into a defensive ball. These "sea bugs" are well preserved and adorable with their stalked eyes that give them a snail like appearance! Size of longest trilobite: 2" L x 1" W (5.1 cm x 2.5 cm); matrix: 5" L x 4.25" W x 1.25" H (12.7 cm x 10.8 cm x 3.2 cm); case: 6.125" L x 5.125" W x 4.25" H (15.6 cm x 13 cm x 10.8 cm)
