Description:

Ronald A. Frazier (American, 1940-2011) A beautiful steel bladed knife with a leather sheath, and mammoth ivory handle, with a copper wire and sinew wrap. The blade is stamped "R. A. Frazier Maker." Ronald A. Frazier was an American knife maker based in Virginia, who earned numerous awards throughout his career until his passing in 2011. Frazier joined the Knifemakers' Guild in 1976, quickly gaining recognition for his unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, which included not only knives but also swords, tomahawks, and daggers. His work often drew inspiration from Native American styles, which significantly influenced his designs, as seen in this piece. The wrapped copper wire and formline style with inlaid nacre are characteristic of Tlingit and other Pacific Northwest Coast tribes. Due to laws regarding the use of walrus ivory by non-Native people, Frazier opted for fossilized mammoth ivory. Size in sheath: 11" L x 1.5" W (27.9 cm x 3.8 cm); blade only: 5.2" L x 1" W (13.2 cm x 2.5 cm)

This is an ESA antique exempt piece of ivory and cannot be sold internationally or to anyone residing in the states of California, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington.
