A well-preserved carnelian intaglio exhibiting the left-facing portrait of Athena (Roman Minerva), the goddess of war and wisdom, wearing her signature Corinthian helmet with the face of a satyr on the front. The intaglio is set within the form-fitting ovoid bezel of a 47.1% gold ring setting that was clearly intended for a sizable finger. Size (intaglio): 0.53" L x 0.42" W x 0.14" H (1.3 cm x 1.1 cm x 0.4 cm); (ring setting): 0.63" L x 0.92" W x 0.97" H (1.6 cm x 2.3 cm x 2.5 cm); gold quality: 47.1% (equivalent to 10K+); weight: 5.0 grams; US ring size: 10
