(17 g) AR tetradrachm of Demetrius Poliorcetes, diademed and horned head right on obverse and on reverse Pelagaios seated left on rock, holding aphlaston in extended right hand and trident in left; monogram to inner left and right. Well struck with attractive obverse toning. Cp. Newell 121. Size: 1" W (2.5 cm)

Demetrius I, called Poliorcetes, "The Besieger", was a Macedonian nobleman and military leader who eventually ascended to the throne of Macedon as the first king of the Antigonid Dynasty in Macedon.
