Northwest Iran to eastern turkey, Central Asia, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 700 BCE. From some of the ancient world's finest metalsmiths. Fine cast bronze whetstone handle with original whetstone. In the form of a large moufflon or ibex with long curved horn, folds upon neck and open mouth; ring under neck used to secure this important implement to a strap or belt. Size: 8.625" L (21.9 cm); 9" L (22.9 cm) on included custom stand.

XRF testing shows metal to be 82.35 copper and 8.94 tin with some antimony used in patina enhancement - all consistent with antiquity.
