Ancient Near East, modern-day Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A cast-bronze socketed pick-axe head of a lengthy form, its blade elongated and gently tapered to a rounded edge. The back end displays a diagonally-oriented socketing hole with protruding rings on both rims, and a visible casting spine. Minute areas of the original bronze are visible beneath the thick green and russet patina. Size: 6.25" L (15.9 cm).

Provenance: private Stagecoach, Nevada, USA collection; acquired from 1985 to present from galleries such as Arte Primitivo, Art For Eternity, Butterfields, and Riverbend Gallery
