Description:

Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A petite socketed bronze axe head with a tubular hafting shaft, a plateaued and flared butt end, and a thick blade end which gradually tapers to a curved, vertical edge. While most Luristan axe heads are hefty and sizeable, this example is rather rare due to its diminutive size. Covered in a beautiful layer of light- and dark-green patina, this is truly a wonderful and noteworthy weapon! Size: 4" L (10.2 cm).
