Description:

Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A handsome bronze dagger with an ornate hilt and pommel formed by using the lost wax casting technique. The tapering blade was cast first then the handle was cast onto it. The handle is narrow with three nodules on both sides. A "double ear" pommel sits at the end of this beautiful weapon. This is a classic example of a fine dagger that was used by the nomadic Luristans and perhaps became a votive piece in a burial tomb with the departed warrior. Size: 9.625" L x .8" W (24.4 cm x 2 cm)
