Description:

Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran and Southeastern Turkey, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. An ornate cloak pin bearing a large ram head finial. The ovine cranium features a pair of large horns curving behind the tapered snout, and a petite creature pokes its head out from behind the neckline. The pin body had slender grooves along the upper body and a tapered pin body with a flattened tip. Size: 11.375" L x 2.25" W (28.9 cm x 5.7 cm)

  • Condition: Restoration to pin and upper body with overpainting in some areas. Abrasions and light encrustations to ram head, with softening to some finer details. Ornament in left ear fused to side of ram head. Nice patina.
