Description:

Magna Graecia, either Campania or Boeotia, ca. early 4th century BCE. Unusual pottery wine drinking cup in a form that seems to mimic examples commonly found in the Greek area of Boeotia, the Etruscan region of Italy, but in a fabric much more closely associated with Campania. Flared foot rising to a tiered platform where the upper cup section seems to rest. Flared, almost horizontal rim and twin upward sweeping handles; all covered in deep black lead-based glaze. An elegant style of a type we have not seen before. Size: 7" W x 5.75" H (17.8 cm x 14.6 cm)
