Ancient Near East, Iran/Persia, Safavid Dynasty, ca. 1501 to 1722 CE. A group of 2 hand-built pottery vessels, each adorned with ample blue pigment beneath a layer of clear glaze. The white-ground bodies provide a contrasting backdrop for the azure motifs to shine through, and additional black linear motifs create separation between the designs. Size (bowl): 11.34" W x 5.4" H (28.8 cm x 13.7 cm); (jar): 5.38" W x 7" H (13.7 cm x 17.8 cm)

Provenance: private Manchester, Vermont, USA collection; ex-private estate collection, Bennington, Vermont, USA, acquired in the 1960s
