Description:

Polynesia, Hawaiian Islands, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A collection of five stone game pieces, all made from volcanic stone (although one less porous than the others) of shades of grey, red, and black. One is larger than the other four, but all have a discoid, puck-like shape. Ulu maika was an ancient Hawaiian sport similar to modern American bowling, where players rolled discs like these down a specially prepared path. Size of largest: 2.9" W x 1.75" H (7.4 cm x 4.4 cm)
