Northwestern Africa, Mauritania, Neolithic Period, ca. 10,000 to 4,000 years ago. A collection of 40 projectile points made from flint (chert) and quartzite. Several are likely arrowheads, distinguished by their necks and fins. Arrowheads and spear points like these were essential tools for early hunting cultures that inhabited the once lush and fertile Sahara Desert during the Neolithic Subpluvial period. Size of largest: 1.6" L x 0.6" W (4.1 cm x 1.5 cm)
