Pre-Columbian, Valley of Mexico, Tlatilco, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE; West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE; Central America, Costa Rica, ca. 800 to 1500 CE; South America, Colombia, Tairona, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A fine gathering of hand-built pottery implements for the preparation and consumption of hallucinogenic substances. First is a small Tlatilco inhaler with an abstract zoomorphic bowl, a small conical tube, and a flared rim. Second is a small Colima preparation spoon with a small scoop, a slender body, and a forked handle. Third is a Costa Rican preparation dish with an abstract avian head and a shallow basin. Last is a twin-spouted Tairona inhaler with a tall receptacle, a thick rim, and a pair of conical inhaler tubes. Lucite display stands for photography purposes only. Size of largest (twin-spouted inhaler): 1.5" W x 3.625" H (3.8 cm x 9.2 cm).
