Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Chinesco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A lovely glazed terracotta vessel with a flat, smooth bottom, rounded shoulders, a shallow basin, and a thin rim. The base and shoulders are decorated in a repeating series of thick, red slip bands, and the inside of the rim bears a thick black stripe with small frets around the exterior. The inside of the bowl boasts a dense register of vertical linear bands which alternate between red and black and surround a circular latticework basin design with four smaller interior circles. A gorgeous example from ancient western Mexico! Size: 5.625" in Diameter x 2" H (14.3 cm x 5.1 cm).
