Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Vera Cruz, ca. 400 to 700 CE. This lot includes a large Veracruz coast watcher adorned with headdress and pronounced earspools, as well as a spooked visage (with perforation for suspension) for that bit of Veracruz macabre, and finally a hybrid human/jaguar transformative figurine. 6-1/4"T x 3-1/2"W x 2-1/2"D (coast watcher), 2"L x 1-1/4"W x 1-1/2"D (skull), 2-1/4"L x 2"W x 1-1/4"D (spooked visage), and 2-1/4"T x 1-1/8"W x 1-1/2"D (hybrid figure) Skull is near choice. Spooky visage shows minor wear at edges. Hybrid figure shows minor loss at left foot and back. Coast watcher is clearly a fragment, but a large one with good sense of original form.
