Description:

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Jamacoaque, ca. 200 to 500 CE and Chorrera to Bahia, ca. 500 BCE to 500 CE. A wonderful ensemble of Pre-Columbian figural potteries from ancient Ecuador, two heads and a water bird. The larger head of the Chorrera or Bahia culture displays somewhat realistic features and scrolled decorative pattern incised on the head cap. The smaller head of the ancient Jamacoaque is depicted with an elaborate headdress adorned with lunar shaped side panels and a shell-like motif on the peak, double round ear ornaments, a large nose ring, and wonderful blue and orange pigments. The Jamacoaque waterbird is depicted with a fabulously long incised beak tucked in to its body. All with custom stands. Very nice group from the indigenous cultures of Pre-Columbian Ecuador. Size: larger head measures 2.5" W x 3.5" H (6.4 cm x 8.9 cm).
