Three solid gold (one 18 karat and two 14 karat)circular nose rings created by the ancients of Panama, demonstrating sophisticated gold working technique and artistry. In the Pre-Columbian world, gold jewelry represented not only the wearer's elite social status but also had sacred connotations as the yellow hues were associated with the sun and by extension the celestial realm. Nose rings or narigureas were among the most important pieces of jewelry. Size: larger 14 karat nose ring measures 1.125" in diameter (2.9 cm) and weighs 6.1 grams; smaller (14 karat) weighs 3 grams; 18 karat gold nose ring measures 1.125" in diameter and weighs 4.4 grams
