Description:

East Asia, China, Northern Song Dynasty, ca. 960 to 1127 CE. A lovely ensemble of three wheel-thrown pottery bowls with concave bases, thin walls that create a deep basin, and traces of their original glazing. The first bowl features thin black rings within the basin and black linear panels along the salmon-pink exterior. The second bowl has thick rings surrounding linear stripes within the basin and grey-green glaze covering the pottery surface. The largest bowl exhibits incredibly smooth grey-green glaze with dark rings along the interior and exterior as well as a pair of narrow lines within the basin center. Size of largest (smooth glaze): 5.7" W x 2.375" H (14.5 cm x 6 cm)

  • Condition: All items have minor nicks and abrasions to feet, walls, and rims, a couple of stable hairline fissures, light encrustations, and fading to original glaze color, otherwise intact and very good. Nice earthen deposits and root marks throughout. Great remains of original glaze on largest bowl.
