Description:

Southwestern USA, probably ca. 500 CE. 21 small flintknapped chert projectile points, of a triangular form with serrated edges and a center basal notch (on nearly all examples). Small points like these are colloquially called "bird points" but experimental archaeology has shown that they could easily have been used for hunting large game like deer - birds were much easier to capture with nets. Size of largest point: 0.7" W x 1.4" H (1.8 cm x 3.6 cm); size of frame: Size: 12.25" W x 8.25" H (31.1 cm x 21 cm)

Provenance: private Los Angeles County, California, USA collection, acquired by descent from the owner's father, collection amassed between 1950-1990
