Pre-Colima, West Mexico, Jalisco and Colima - Pihuamo style, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A lovely pair of ancient pottery figures from the indigenous of West Mexico. First a seated Colima bichrome figure with hands placed on knees, donning a white loin cloth, and facing forward with coffee bean shaped eyes, a prominent nose, pursed lips, and a cap-like headdress or coiffure. Joining this figure is a kneeling Jalisco female, nude with prominent breasts and attenuated arms, presenting a tranquil visage comprised of coffee bean shaped eyes, a relatively naturalistic nose, slightly parted lips, large ears, and a short-cropped coiffure. Size: Jalisco figure measures 7" H (17.8 cm); Colima figure measures 6" H (15.2 cm)
