Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Mixtec culture, ca. 1000 BCE to 1500 CE. This lot features a Mixtec tripod rattle bowl decorated in red, cream, and white painted and incised geometric designs. The rattles still function. This bowl was intended to be worn atop a ritual participant's head. Pendant with this piece is a deep round bowl painted with red and cream abstract decorations.
